What to do in Auckland?

Have you heard of Auckland? Our best tip is to make it like an Aucklander, this is the best way to see Auckland's cool secrets. Walk around the Viaduct to see why Auckland is called "City of Sails", or pay a visit to Sky Tower are good idea, but your memory will get better by travelling out of the CBD. Hike up to Mt Eden Volcano, sip some wine in Waiheke island, or a stroll in the Cornwall Park. Did you know that Mt Eden has the same height as the Sky Tower? If only there was a casino inside it.

If you want explore the city fringe instead: Ponsonby, Parnell, Newmarket. Each has its own flavour, and can definitely justify a morning of shopping followed by some lunch.

You shouldn't miss a beach trip when you are in Auckland, it's worth including a day trip to Auckland's west coast while you're here. Surfing, swimming or just lying down on the black sand, oh, don't forget the awesome beach views.

There's plenty on the drive north of Auckland too. About an hour north is Matakana wine country, with a decent Saturday market and enough retail outlets to keep you happy.
